Harry Potter

My favorite book to movie adaptation is Harry Potter. I have seen others, however out of the ones that I have seen, Harry Potter was done the best. I feel like the movies stuck extremely close to the books, while some things had to be changed or taken out, it was extremely easy to relate things from the movies back to the books.  The book series is one of my favorite book series and the movies are one of my favorite movie series.  I always make it a point to re-read the books and watch the movies every year, and I always pick up on new things that I may have missed the other times that I read the books and watched the movies.

Goals

At the beginning of the year, I try to set goals for myself, whether it be blogging goals, reading goals or lifestyle goals. However, the only goals that I usually end up keeping are my reading goals, those are just the easiest ones for me to keep for some reason. Although this year, I have done a somewhat okay of keeping my lifestyle goal of being more active, I started doing yoga. I don’t remember setting any blogging goals this year, in previous years I set them, but never kept them. In my opinion, it is important to set goals even if you don’t keep them, they still give you something to work for.

Community

Community as defined by the Oxford English Dictionary, is a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common. Everyone lives in a community, but not everyone in that community shares the same interests or has particular characteristics in common. Even when people don’t share the same interests or agree on things, many times they come together to support a common goal that benefits the community as a whole and not just one sector of it. For example, if something bad happened in a community, such as a natural disaster a lot of times everyone comes together, puts differences aside and helps each other out. This supports the common goal of getting the community back to normal. Sometimes the decisions that are made, actually hurt the community, instead of helping it. There are things that make a community balanced, you have to take the good with the bad.

There are even other types of communities that people sometimes don’t even realize exist. I’m going to use social media as an example. For instance, YouTube has different communities within a large community. On YouTube, there’s the beauty community, where makeup and beauty enthusiasts film videos with reviews, tutorials and hauls. They also share skin care routines and what products they use. There’s also the booktube community, which is my favorite to follow. I love hearing and seeing what others are reading and what their thoughts on books are. Another community is the health and fitness community. I don’t follow this community too much, I’ve seen one of these YouTubers shame others because the lifestyles and opinions don’t match what this person believes in. These are the only communities that I know of on YouTube, I’m sure there are others that I have yet to discover.

Astronomy

When I was in elementary school one of my favorite units was about the planets. I was just fascinated by them, and I still am. I find them extremely interesting and mysterious. One of my favorite things is when I know that certain planets will be visible, they’re usually always by the moon. I think it’s really cool to see the planets, even though they just look extremely bright stars.  I have an app on my phone too that tells you where the constellations and stars are, so it’s really fun to look at the app and then look at the sky on a clear night to see what I can find.  Growing up my favorite planet was always Pluto, it still is my favorite planet. When I found out about NASA’s New Horizons project, and that we would be able to see Pluto for the first time I was ecstatic. I’ve been following along and every time new photos and information are released its really intriguing to see what has been found. NASA’s Instagram account is one of my favorites, it just has the coolest pictures of all things astronomy.
