Top 5 Wednesday was originally created by Lainey from Gingerreadslainey and is now hosted by Sam from Thoughts on Tomes.  There is a Goodreads group which lists the topics.

The topic for this week is spooky settings.  These may look familiar as they were featured in yesterday’s Top 10 Tuesday post, I did that purposefully.  And yes, these settings are all from Harry Potter, sue me.

Little Hangleton Graveyard- This graveyard is the final resting place of the Riddle Family, and it is extremely eerie.

The Dark Forest- “But there are werewolves in there,” there’s a lot of other things in the forest too.

The Black Lake- The mermaids make this lake so damn creepy, and they are beautifully creepy themselves.

Godric’s Hollow- There is a sense of eeriness I get when reading about Godric’s Hollow.

The Chamber of Secrets- It’s downright scary as all freaking hell.  It’s dark and damp.

Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish.  This week’s topic is a Halloween freebie.

Since I haven’t read too many scary books, I’m gonna do a mix of eerie/scary settings and books would make for great reads this time of year.

The Crucible by Arthur Miller- Written about the Salem Witch Trials, and in my opinion, a must read this time of year.

The House of Seven Gables by Nathaniel Hawthorne- I remember reading the Great Illustrated Classics edition of this when I was younger.  It contains supernatural elements and witchcraft.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs- Some of the images in this book are quite creepy, but so isn’t the thought of an abandoned orphanage.

Serafina and the Black Cloak by Robert Beatty- This book is mysterious, but not in a creepy way, still, a good mystery is always good this time of year.

Bittersweet by Beverly Miranda-Whittemore- While this book does take place in the summer, mysteries are solved and secrets are discovered.

The Dollhouse by Fiona Davis- This is another book that contains a mystery, and lots of secrets concerning events that happened years ago.

Top 5 Wednesday was originally created by Lainey from Gingerreadslainey and is now hosted by Sam from Thoughts on Tomes.  There is a Goodreads group which lists the topics.

I had so much fun with this week’s topic, it is non-canon ships.

Albus and Scorpios- I really wish that these two were canon.  While I was reading Cursed Child I thought that there was something between them that was more than “just friends” and that they should have just gotten together.

Neville and Luna- I can definitely put this one on the list because it never really happened.  They were always just friends, but I always felt like there was something there between them in the books and the movies.  There’s a scene towards the end of Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 where Neville is sitting on the stairs with the Sword of Gryffindor and Luna just sits next to him and they just look at each other in silence.

Laurie and Jo- There was always something between them in Little Women, but they never actually ended up together at the end of the book.

Greg and Rachel- I always wanted them to be more than just friends.

Cal and Mare- Are they or aren’t they, that is the question.  Everything about these two is so complicated I can never tell if they are just friends or if they are actually together, and if they aren’t together, I want them to be.
