#October19CalendarGirls

calendar girls

Calendar Girls is a monthly blog event created by Melanie at MNBernard Booksand Flavia aFlavia the Bibliophileand will now be hosted by Katie at Never Not Readingand Adrienne at Darque Dreamer ReadsIt is designed to ignite bookish discussions among readers and was inspired by the 1961 Neil Sedaka song, Calendar Girl. (Information from Katie at Never Not Reading)

Each month there is a new theme and the theme for October is Pumpkin Lanterns (Book That Lit Your Way Out of a Reading Slump).

I’ve been fortunate to have never been in a reading slump.  Were there periods that I wasn’t reading as much? Yes, but it wasn’t due to me being in a reading slump it was due to having other priorities, the number one priority being school work.

There was also a time in my life where I HAD to read books for school, which kind of took the joy out of reading for a while.  I’ve always been a reader, I grew up surrounded by books and going to the library so for me I never had one book that got me into reading, but I did have a few books that got me back into reading for the joy of reading after having to read books for school for so long, and my discovery of BookTube helped too.

The books that got me back into reading after reading books for school for so long were:
The Divergent Series by Veronica Roth
Rebels: City of Indra by Kendall and Kylie Jenner
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

  1. I feel like that’s the eternal struggle of every reader, finding the time to read. You’re so lucky that you’ve never been in a slump haha!
