Calendar Girls is a monthly blog event created by Melanie at MNBernard Books, and Flavia at Flavia the Bibliophile, and will now be hosted by Katie, and Adrienne at Darque Dreamer Reads. It is designed to ignite bookish discussions among readers and was inspired by the 1961 Neil Sedaka song, Calendar Girl. (Information from Katie at Never Not Reading)

Our choice too!
Great choice! It sounds like it’s going to be phenomenal. It plays even more to Angie Thomas’s strengths then The Hate U Give did, so I think it’s going to blow us all away. Tee hee.
I do too. I read the first five chapters already and I was blown away.

I still haven’t read anything by Angie Thomas. Honestly all of the hype has me wanting to wait so I can appreciate the story without the pressure of everyone’s praise.
I read The Hate U Give in 2017 and it took me almost a month to get it from the library, and it is definitely deserving of all the praise that it has gotten and continues to get. I think you’d be safe if you wanted to read it now.
Maybe. But I’m deep in fantasy mode right now.
I’m kind of drifting away from fantasy a bit with the exception of Middle Grade.
I have always been a massive fan of fantasy, no matter the age category.
I REALLY need to read The Hate U Give! This sounds ace too!
The Hate U Give was amazing, and Angie Thomas will be at a local book fest in April – plan on getting a signed copy of her new book!
I loved The Hate U Give too once I got my hands on it from the library after waiting close to a month. I preordered the Nook book of On The Come Up this morning.
That one sounds so good! Hope you enjoy 😀
Thank you, I loved The Hate U Give so I’m pretty sure I’ll love On The Come Up as well.
Ahhhh I haven’t read THUG yet….oh the shame! I should do that this year lol
I am really looking forward to Capturing the Devil. She released the description for it and it sounds amazing.
I haven’t read the synopsis yet.
She posted about it on Instagram and I just happened to see it.
Well Ashley it’s part of my “most awaited books of 2019: winter” because I loved The hate U Give!
I loved The Hate U Give too, I preorderd the Nook book of On The Come Up this morning. I borrowed The Hate U Give from the library and it took me almost a month to get it, this past summer it was on every single summer reading list too. I think books like The Hate U Give are so important and need to be read.
Yesss! This is high on my anticipation list too. A must read the moment I receive it for sure.
I preordered the Nook book this morning. The first five chapters are available to read on Epic Reads.

I still need to read The Hate U Give. I love this cover. Now I need to look up the synopsis because I am sure I will be adding this one to my TBR too! Great choice and so glad you joined us! ❤
Thank you, I’m so happy I joined too. You can read the first five chapters of On The Come Up on the Epic Reads website! The Hate U Give is heartbreaking but needs to be read. I saw the movie too and OMG it needs to be seen!
Yes! I need to catch up on my Epic Reads emails and I’ll take a look at the site. So exciting! And now I need to get my copy and find the movie ASAP! 😀
I don’t know when the movie will be out on DVD, I haven’t seen anything about it.
Did it come out in theaters at all? I’m behind the times on movies too, lol.
Yeah, I saw it in the theater.
Cool. I wasn’t sure if it was a Netflix original or not. Most of the adaptations lately seem to be on Netflix, lol.
I’ve noticed that too about adaptations recently.
