#JustNo

Fall_Winter Discussion HeaderToday I am going to discuss books and authors that I won’t read and give the reasons why. Some books and authors go hand in hand.

Nevernight, and Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff- I saw things on Twitter when Nevernight was first published concerning how a culture was represented and then when he was called out, he refused to listen to those who were concerned.

Gemina, and Obsidio by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kauffman- While I did love the format of Illuminae, I was extremely bored with the content and really had to push myself to finish the book. Because I found Illuminae extremely boring, I will not continue with the series.

Colleen Hoover- I have no interest or desire to read any of her books especially after reading Whitney Atkinson’s review for November 9, it seems like all of her books have a lot of problematic things in them. Her books aren’t books I would read, to begin with.

A Court of Thorns and Roses and the rest of the series- I actually own ACOTAR and I read the Nook sample of it before I decided if I was going to read it or not, and the sample didn’t draw me in at all. It didn’t hold my attention and make me want to keep reading. It’s in my unhaul pile.

An Ember in the Ashes series- My reasons for not reading this book and the rest of the series has nothing to do with the writing or the story itself because I’m actually intrigued by the story, it’s the narrative format that I have trouble with. There are some books that have the same narrative format as this one that I don’t have problems reading, and then there are other books where for some reason I can’t read them.

These are the books and authors that I won’t read if there are any more books/authors that I think of I will add them.

  1. That is so disappointing to hear about Colleen Hoover. I’m reading one of her books right now and it’s really good so I’m shocked. :/

I bought Illuminae but haven’t read it yet. I’ve heard mixed reviews but I do remember you saying you were not a fan.

I also have An Ember in the Ashes but also have heard mixed reviews and am not sure how I feel about it
