#GhostFollowers

discussion-2

Today’s discussion is about ghost followers and how I feel about them. Ghost followers are those followers that just follow your blog and never like or comment on any of your posts.

I don’t blog for likes, I blog for comments and to have conversations with people. I want followers that will find and take the time to comment on my posts, not just follow my blog and never comment on anything. This might sound petty AF, but I have removed followers from my blog who never comment on or like any of my posts. But, as I said earlier, I don’t blog for likes, I could care less about them, I want the comments and interaction. There’s no point in me even having my blog if I’m not going to be able to have conversations with people who follow it. I know people get busy, but I try my best to read and comment on every post that I read so I can start a conversation with the blogger who took the time to write the post. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I really find ghost followers annoying, like honestly what’s the point of following my blog if you aren’t going to bother to follow it? These are just my thoughts about ghost followers, how do you feel about them?

And if anyone is wondering, blog-hopping and commenting on posts will occur this weekend!

  1. Personally I feel my followers do dip in and out but overall I don’t mind them. Ha still holding out hope xx

  2. I don’t really mind ghost followers. The only thing that I absolutely hate is bloggers who don’t take the time to reply to comments.
I’m like.. You want to share your passion, so I’m going all enthusiastic on your post and then you don’t even take the time to reply? Sorry, but that’s an immediate *do not follow this person* in my book. I can’t help it. I want to support people, but not if they don’t bother answering, haha.
[At the same time I’m not being a hypocrite because I always try answering to people, even if they just commented a simple ‘thanks’.]

    • I feel like ghost followers are fake followers. I don’t like it when people don’t reply either. It’s like, someone took the time to read your post, leave a comment and you can’t be bothered to reply to comments. I think it’s wicked rude.

  3. I have noticed that a lot here and IG. That is why I try once every couple of weeks to catch up with everybody and at least leave some likes if I don’t feel that I can contribute to the discussion. I love a good discussion, but sometimes it feels like all I can add is “I agree” or “this sounds good” and then I feel lame, haha.

  4. I get being disappointed with people following the blog and just liking posts. I would wonder if they are just liking the post without reading it, which is exactly what I would think if a post got 5 likes after I published it 2 seconds ago.
Good comments let you know someone read your post, and it encouraged them to share their thoughts and feelings about the post with you. Everyone wants that!

  5. I always wondered why I’d have close to 3,000 followers but only so many comments or likes. Like literally such a small percentage comments or likes the posts…I just wonder why follow? 🤷‍♀️

  6. I completely agree. I blog on multiple platforms but most of the time, people just like my blogs as they scroll past. Comments are like a sign that someone actually took the time to read your blog and took an interest in it.

  7. Interesting! I don’t mind ghost followers, really, but I do always have to wonder if they’re actually reading my blog if they don’t like or comment! Perhaps they are, but I just have no way to know! I also probably don’t like or comment on all the blogs I follow and occasionally read, so I kind of understand.
