From Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling:
Dolores Umbridge- In my opinion, she is more villainous than Professor Snape. She doesn’t have any redeeming qualities and doesn’t care about the students at all.
Peter Pettigrew- He gave away the location of the Potters to Lord Voldemort, enough said.
The Dementors- They suck the souls and happiness out of people, they’re evil and scary.
Lord Voldemort- He’s ruthless and relentless in his pursuit of power, stopping at nothing to get what he wants, and even kills innocent people.
Bellatrix Lestrange- She’s pure evil, she killed her own cousin and tortured Neville’s parents with the cruciatus curse.
Lucius Malfoy- He slipped Tom Riddle’s diary into Ginny Weasley’s cauldron, he’s a death eater, and worst of all tried, but failed to get Dumbledore removed as the Headmaster of Hogwarts.
From other books:
Sauron and his all seeing eye from The Lord of the Rings- “The Eye was rimmed with fire, but was itself glazed, yellow as a cat’s, watchful and intent, and the black slit of its pupil opened on a pit, a window into nothing.” This describes why he’s a villain perfectly.
The White Witch from The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe- She turns her enemies to stone, banished Christmas and is cold hearted.
Queen of Hearts from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland- She hands out the death sentence for even the most minor of crimes. Her famous last words are “off with his head.”
Abigail William from The CrucibleI- She’s extremely manipulative, has a tendency to lie, and sends innocent people to their death by accusing them of witchcraft.

I honestly hated Umbridge more than Voldemort haha. Bellatrix is one of my favourite HP characters. I know she’s all kinds of evil, but I can’t help but love her 😅

What a great list. I love that you included Abigail William as a villian since I’ve just started reading The Witches: Salem 1692. It’s a nonfiction exploration of the witchcraft trials in Salem, so Abigail shows up frequently in the book!

I seriously hated Umbridge! She just so irksome and hateful and she’s a powerful figure in school that no one could really do anything about it but obey her.
I also thought of Sauron! Though I haven’t read the books, in the films his presence through the eye was always scary. I agree with all of the Harry Potter ones, and I would add Rita Skeeter, because even though she wasn’t a murderer like the most of the others, she was awful and quite annoying! And I also agree with the White Witch and the Queen of Hearts, I had forgotten about them!

I don’t think what Rita did really qualifies her to be a villain. Yes, she was definitely annoying and her methods were questionable, she was just doing what she was told to do.
You might be right. I might just have blown her actions out of proportion through the years because I hated her so much 😛
