The topic for this week is books picked up on a whim.
Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish
1.) Bittersweet by Miranda Beverly-Whittemore: I picked this up because I thought it was something out of my genre comfort zone. I ended up loving it.
The following classics because I have never read them:
2.) The Illiad and the Odyssey by Homer
3.) War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy
4.) A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
5.) Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens
6.) Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
7.) Moby Dick by Herman Melville
8.) The House of Seven Gables by Nathaniel Hawthorne
Cover buys:
9.) Zodiac by Romina Russell
10.) Before Tomorrowland by Jeff Jansen
I really want to read The Illiad and The Odyssey! I’m hoping to get to them soon 🙂
There’s a readathon in June where you have to read a book over 500 pages, I’m either going to read The Illiad and the Odyssey or War and Peace. It’s a two week readathon.
Ooh that sounds like something I need to do because I’m the worst at reading books over 400 pages haha.
It might just give you the perfect motivation.
Pride and Prejudice is personally my favorite classic. I don’t remember why I ended up picking it up (maybe it was also on a whim!), but it was wonderful and each time I read it, I love it more and more.
Never heard of Before Tomorrowland before, the cover looks great, reminds me a little of Metropolis. I haven’t read any of the classics before either. War and Peace in particular looks like a tough read.
The classics intimidate me, especially War and Peace and the Illiad and the Odyssey!
