2016 Reading/Bookish Goals

These are my reading/bookish goals for 2016.

1.) Read at least 25 books.  Last year I set my Goodreads goal at 15 books and read 33.  So this year I set my Goodreads reading challenge goal at 25.  If I read 33 books in 2015, why would I set my goal lower and not higher?  Well, I feel like 25 is a well rounded goal for books read, and I’m not putting too much pressure on myself.

2.) Tackle the Illiad and the Odyssey.  I read the Argonautica and it was not easy to read at all, even though it was only 155 pages it was still difficult to read because of the way it was written.  It’s written in verse like a poem but doesn’t read like a poem.  The Illiad and they Odyssey is 720 pages and is intimidating.

3.) Read more classics.  I haven’t read too many classics and want to read more.  I feel like the classics are important pieces of literature that need to be read.  To Kill A Mockingbird, and Pride and Prejudice are some classics that I have in my bookcase that I need to read.

4.) Read the past two Fiction Pulitzer Prize Winners.  I have yet to read The Goldfinch and All The Light We Cannot See, and I need to read them.  And yes, I have them in my bookcase.

5.) Try not to buy too many more books in a series until I have read the first book.  I have at least 4 first books in a series that I have yet to read.  I need to read them before I buy the sequels, or I’ll just get the sequels from the library.

6.) Do more readathons and challenges.  Readathons are a good way to tackle my TBR (To Be Read) list.  I participated in a readathon last year, and it was something fun and different, so I definitely want to do more.
